Mariner United finishes undefeated season 5-0-3!!!

In what seemed like a replay from a few other games this season, our guys fought back after getting down early to eek out yet another draw to keep us undefeated in the seasons final game against Fall River. We started a little shaky, but when Anthony drew a penalty kick and Remy delivered a huge goal for us I knew we were going to come back strong. Nice call Ant letting Remy take the pressure kick! That boy has ice water in his veins and always wants to take the big shot in the big games!

Ryan made some big saves down the stretch and kept us in it allowing us to comeback once again. He finishes the season with an impressive 5 wins, 0 losses, and 3 draws! A great athlete and an even better kid, we are lucky to have Ryan between the posts every time we take the field!

Johnny Marmelo is becoming our Mr. clutch! He got us back within striking distance with his first goal and his incredible corner kick goal was the equalizer. John has come up huge for us all season and hopefully he has a few more left for the playoffs. Nice work buddy!

Defensively we did what we always do. We frustrated the Fall River forwards all day. Bowman, Butler, Vincent, Tres, and Christian were awesome keeping the Fall River attack at bay. Bowman ran down #7 on Fall River who was probably the best striker we faced all season. Between Curly and our other defenders stunting their attack they looked frustrated especially in the 2nd half!

George was covered most of the day and at some points they had him double covered it seemed. Apparently we have been scouted and didn't know it! That's OK when they pay more attention to George it leaves one of our other guys open, and George did a good job battling the defense and getting the ball to our other attackers.

We have clinched 3rd place. The rest of the league will play this coming Saturday and hopefully by next Monday or Tuesday the playoff schedule will be finalized. As soon as I know when, who, and where we will play, I will let everybody know. In the mean time lets make the most out of practice this Thursday and next Thursday and be ready to come out flying when the playoffs begin. As I have said before, win, lose, or draw the coaches are so proud of these guys already and this has been an amazing season for our team! Now it's on to round 1 of the playoffs and lets keep this fantastic season going for as long as we can.
