They are truly the "Comeback Kids" of the SCSL! Coach Marmelo said after the game "I have never seen a team...ANY team...ANY age group including the pros that have comeback as many times as our team". They just refuse to lose. In the biggest game of the season and probably the biggest game of our players short careers, they were able to overcome a 2nd half 3-1 deficit to beat a very good Nantucket team.

Remy got us on the board 1-0 in the first half and the coaches were hoping that we could score early in the 2nd half and then clamp down on defense and win going away. But Edinilson Chacon (#2) and Treyce Brannigan (#17) for Nantucket had other plans. They came out in the 2nd half like champions and barraged Ryan with shots until they were up 3-1 and we were in big, big trouble. Then Curly, Remy, and the rest of the boys got ticked off. You can see a switch flip with this group. As soon as it looks like they are going to possibly lose they turn it up a couple of notches and take complete control over both ends of the field. Curly got a chance at a free kick and buried it into the back of the net. That was a HUGE CLUTCH goal from Johnny and it got our fans whoopin it up and our players energized for the last quarter of the game.

George had a mismatch in the 2nd half and was able to beat his man and send a bunch of balls to the middle. One that looked like it had a chance to go in or might hit the post was chased down by Remy and timed perfectly and in a highlight film sliding kick put us back in control at 3-3. Like I said these boys just refuse to lose!

Anthony's sweet pass to send Remy on his way for the eventual game winner was the type of unselfish play we are used to seeing from Anthony. He always seems to make the right pass at the right time. Playing with a very, very heavy heart and very little sleep. I was incredibly proud that he was able to play and contribute after a couple of really tough days. Love you buddy! You have the kindness and generosity of your mom and granny, and the heart of a champion...

I am certain the Nantucket players, coaches, and fans will be seeing our little redheaded #15 in their nightmares for awhile. Remy scored 7 goals against the islanders this season. And was a force throughout both games.

Johnny Marmelo had another great game in the middle. He helped by cracking back on defense when it looked like Nantucket would come back in the end. Vincent, Johnny Butler, and Tres wouldn't let them get many good shots on Ryan down the stretch. Ryan did make a couple of his usual game savers in the last few minutes. And his punts and goal kicks helped to burn the clock too! Christian played a bunch of positions and almost had a great goal in the 2nd half but the goalie made the save.

And now its on to the Final Four tomorrow and lets keep this going for as long as we can! Win or lose we are so proud of our boys!

We want to thank you all for the hugs, condolences, and well wishes this week. Tricia, Emily, Anthony, and I are heartbroken after the loss of Tricia's mom...but to have an extended family like all of you to take our minds off of it at least for a little while and share some laughs has made an awful time a little less awful. We love you guys. :) And we love this team!

Finally, a couple of weeks ago we took Anthony's grandmother to her favorite restaurant, the Lobster Pot, in Wareham. We had a great time and have some great memories from that day. I wish I got some pictures but for some reason I didn't. Sometimes we think the good times will last forever... But I found a couple of pics from our 2015 trip to the Lobster Pot and a video of Granny getting a ride in our mini cooper convertible. Happier times...She was one of a kind. And we will miss her terribly... Its perfect that they are drinking champagne in the picture below.

" A toast to Tricia and her mom. The two sweetest, kindest, and most generous people that I have ever known".
