We are constantly telling our boys to play "possession soccer". But what does it mean? Patient, quick feet and quick thinking...short passes to move the ball upfield into the attack zone. The strategy behind playing possession soccer is very simple. When we have possession of the ball, we can score and our opponents can't! If we control the ball for the majority of the game, we will win the majority of our games. We are moving in the right direction but I wanted to show you how an amazing U13 team plays possession based, ball control soccer. Please watch at least 10 mins of the video each week. And see how patient they are with the ball and how every pass makes sense. Watch the players who play the same position you do. These players aren't just kicking the ball. They are drawing in the defenders and finding the open teammate. Watch how Chivas USA (the red team) plays the game properly. Do you see any "ball hogs" or "ball chasers"? Enjoy!
